It was no accident that we ended up providing top quality organic fish oil products to pet owners.
Coastal Nutrients is a family owned 100% Irish company that cares about your pet's health. Based on the beautiful windswept Donegal coast, we source our fish from the cold waters of the Atlantic Ocean off the stunning Wild Atlantic Way.
Coastal Nutrients was founded by husband and wife team Paul and Wendy Gallagher from our premises just outside Donegal Town.
Pauls' Story.
It was no accident that we ended up providing top quality fish oil products to dog cat and horse owners.
My background has always involved both a love and fascination of dogs, fish and fishing.
Ever since I was a young boy growing up n Donegal, I had always kept Labradors and Springers, and was blessed when I married my wife Wendy, who shared this love of the same breed of dogs.
Later, my education was fish based, and I studied Aquatic Science / Fish Farming and Fisheries Management. And for the next 20 years dedicated my professional life in service to protecting fish and promoting fishing to School children.
Every cloud…
A terrible work injury and a Golden Retriever named Boots - changed our lives forever.
Following a terrible accident at work, I was left with mounting medical bills, which depleted our family’s life savings. With still more medical bills arriving, I had nothing left to sell but 2 drums of Mackerel oil and a box of bottles that I got for free.
With my fisheries knowledge, I decided to gently tinker with the a Mackerel oil formula that I had been toying with in my head, in order to sell it online to sea anglers. Eureka: I sold them online in one day to sea anglers - who gave me incredible feedback.
Later that day we were at the local vets with Boots our family Labrador when the vet suggested I should give him some fish oil for his coat, eyes and joints.
We put Boots on the Mackerel Oil he absolutely loved it. I had that eureka moment - again! And in that moment - Coastal Nutrients was born, and the rest as they say - is history.

Mackerel Oil is great for our pets because it is natural and organic with high levels of Omega 3,6 and 9. All of which our pets need to lead happy healthy lives.
2. Where are the fish caught that are used to make Coastal Nutrients pet oils?
All our fish are caught off the west coast of Ireland.
3. How long will the Mackerel oil last ?
Coastal Nutrients Mackerel oil will last 6 months from date of opening.
4. How should I store my Mackerel oil?
The Mackerel oil is best stored at room temperature in a dark area.
5. My Mackerel oil has gone solid why?
Mackerel oil is loaded with natural fat from the Mackerel .Like all natural fats it will go solid in cold conditions.
6. Will the Mackerel oil Quality be affected if it goes solid?
No .The drop in temperature will not affect the quality of the oil.
7. Why is the oil stored in black bottles?
We use black bottles to protect the Mackerel oil from sunlight as it can affect the quality of the oil.
8. Can I give my pet more than the recommended dosage of Mackerel oil?
No it is best practice to stick to the recommended dosage .
